Harlan and Emily Harrison
I just returned from the best trip of my
life! We spent a few days in Kathmandu and
trekked to Annapurna Base Camp. The panorama
views of the mountains were stunning, but my
favorite place was the hillside farm village
of Chomrong. It is my Shangri-la.
I strongly recommend Himalaya Heart Treks.
Owner Thakur Timalsina looked after us from
our first online contact to placing the
traditional scarf around our necks at the
airport when we left. I ran into medical
problems quite unrelated to the trek, and
Thakur went to great length to see that I
received the needed care. I have tremendous
respect for his professionalism and for the
very personal way he hosted us.
Our guide was his brother Hari Timalsina.
Hari became a brother to me. He seemed to
know every turn in the trail. He was always
concerned about our safety and enjoyment. He
loved sharing his Nepali culture with us. He
arranged wonderful meals for us. His wife
and son were far away on his father's farm,
but we felt almost part of his family.
Our porter was their cousin Nava Timalsina.
This was his first trek, but he was as
professional as if he had always been in the
business. We took too much stuff, but he
carried it with grace and good cheer and was
great company. I took along a small voice
recorder and Hari and Nava enjoyed giving
commentary and singing songs into the
machine.
These men were wonderful hosts. I learned
about true hospitality from them.
Please contact me if you would like more
information.
