Set in a remote wilderness towards the eastern border of Nepal and India, far eastern region is the least explored area in Nepal to offer extraordinary treks along rarely visited trails to the foothills of Mt. Kanchanjunga and Mt. Makalu. This region was opened for trekkers in 1988 however it is still underdeveloped and trekkers must be fully self-sufficient. A 22 to 26 day trek takes you through the thick forests of rhododendron in the tropical lowlands and yak grazing pastures at high altitudes, surrounded by peaks of Kanchanjunga, Kambachen, Yalung Kang & Jannu Himals. This region is home to ethnic groups of Kirant notably the Rai and Limbus. Starting the treks by flying from Kathmandu to Taplejung by non-schedule flight and walk with a descent through terraced fields and tropical forests to the Tamur river till you reach Pangpema (5140 m), the highest point of the region.
