What is
trekking?
It is a journey from place to place
in the villages, foothills and mountains.
Depending on regions, it can be through
forested ridges, villages, along deep gorges
and canons, hillside trails and also across
the snow passes. It is full of ascents and
descents and not necessarily more arduous or
uncomfortable than center-based sojourns as
people think but we say it is more
interesting and rewarding.
How difficult are the treks and how long
does it go for ?
The difficulty of our treks depend on where
you want to trek and how long you would like
to go for. Your trek can last anywhere from
3-8 days to an entire month or longer if you
wish. We can accommodate day hikes, cultural
visits to local villages, and relaxing rest
days on your trek. The decision is yours!
The shorter treks tend to be easier while
the longer ones require some physical
fitness. Be prepared for some steep trails
leading to amazing view. You can go at your
own pace taking time! We have friendly and
dependable staff to look after you and
porters to assist you with your personal
gears.
We assure you that you do not have to be
very experienced, or super fit to enjoy most
of our treks. Previous walking experience,
though useful, is not essential. The great
majority of our treks could be undertaken by
anyone who is in good health, enjoys outdoor
life, and have spirit of adventure. Mental
preparedness is essential. Our treks vary
from Easy to Strenuous+ Alpine.
Accommodation during
trekking.
Being an environment friendly company
we mainly rely on camping treks. Unlike
other companies our intention is to give our
clients the fullest satisfaction by taking
them mostly into "off the beaten path"
treks. So we take with us the Adventure
Treks Tents, which is spacious enough for
two person, sleeping pillow, insulated
mattress, sleeping bag, down jacket and a
hot water bag, which gives you warmth during
the night. On all our treks there is a
toilet tent with seat, dining tent with
tables and backrest chairs, which provides a
cozy, comfortable atmosphere to eat and chat
with fellow trekkers in the evening.
Obviously, we need to employ many porters
who will not only carry your stuff but will
make sure you have a memorable time, by
performing Nepali song and dance in every
opportunity we get. If you really like to
understand the Nepali culture, tradition and
want to adopt with the Nepali people then we
suggest you to do the Camping Trek. At the
end of a trek you will say, "It was worth
paying". Another option of trekking in Nepal
is a Lodge or Tea House Trek where we find
an accommodation in our recommended lodges
for a night stay. They are the combination
of guesthouse, restaurant and social hang
out. We also encourage our clients to try
the Tea House Treks mainly on the Everest,
Annapurna and Langtang Regions. Our many
years of experience along these routes have
helped us to find, friendliest, cleanest and
most enjoyable teahouses with the best
views. Most teahouses have running water.
Many have hot water available for bathing.
However, we discourage our clients from
using water heated by firewood. As
deforestation is a big environmental concern
in Nepal. These are also great ways of
supporting local villagers' economy.
Will we have private rooms
and bathrooms ?
Private rooms are available in most
teahouses except for those at very high
altitudes. Most bathrooms are shared. On our
lodge treks we also provide someone to clean
all bathroom facilities for our groups. Our
lodge treks also include bed and pillow
covers. During tent trekking, you will be
provided separate toilet tents.
Tented camping treks: In remote terrain, we
camp in tents. Even if you've never camped
before, you don't need to worry. The tents
we provide are roomy, the sleeping
mattresses with pillows are comfortable. On
all of our treks there is a toilet tent with
seat a dining tent with tables and backrest
chairs. It provides a cozy, comfortable
atmosphere to eat and chat with fellow
trekkers in the evening.
Where do we eat our means
and what types of food is served ?
If you are on a teahouse trek you
will eat breakfast and dinner at your
teahouse. We will stop for lunch at one of
the various trailside restaurants, where
snacks are always easy to find. If you are
on a camping trek, we will prepare all meals
and snacks ourselves. Almost every teahouse
serves the traditional Nepali meal Dal Bhat,
Tarkari (rice, lentils and vegetable
curries). All teahouses we stay at have a
variety of different foods on the menu
including noodles, rice, potatoes,
vegetables and soup. Some have Nepali
versions of western food such as pizza and
French-fries. The choice is yours. Sodas and
beer are available at most of the teahouses
and of course Nepali milk tea is served
everywhere.
