Annapurna trek, Pokhara and Kathmandu valley Trek/tour 2009

In October-November 2009 we were welcomed in Nepal by Thakur of Himalaya Heart.

Our main goals were the Annapurna trek, Pokhara and sightseeing in the Kathmandu valley. A stay of 22 days for a group of 10; men and women, aging from 40 to 66 and all more or less fit.

The Trip of a Lifetime.......

In April of 2009, six friends and I embarked on an adventure we had all dreamed about. Initially we had planned to use a large well-known trekking group. Based on the recommendation of a friend from Nepal, we chose Himalaya Heart Treks and Expeditions (www.seenepal.com). The choice could not have been better. From our arrival at the airport in Kathmandu until our departure 2 1/2 weeks later we were treated like best friends. I planned to say "treated like royalty", but that implies a formal and distant relationship, which was not the case.

In march 2003 we made - with hari as our guide - a most wonderful 21-days-trek Around Annapurna including the 5600m Thorung La-pass and were eager to come back to Nepal since we so much fell in love with this country and its inhabitants. Over Christmas 2004 then we made it: we did a 10-day-trek in the Langtang- and Helambu-region, crossing the 4500m Laurebina La-pass.

Thakur was my guide for the trek to Everest Base Camp. Hiring Thakur was the best decision I have ever made and he was truly amazing right from the start. He picked me up at the airport and facilitated everything for me in Kathmandu prior to our departure. The following day, when the trek began, is when I really got to know Thakur. He is very smart, know-ledgeable about world affairs, his country, politics, and of course, the Himalaya. He is also funny, outgoing, and friendly.
