This is a really adventurous trek which takes trekkers to many of farms and rural villages still untouched by modern civilization, and into magnificent forests of rhododendron, oaks and pines and over scenic high passes that straddle the border with Sikkim. Crossing the passes is physically challenging, but hard effort is rewarded with glorious scenery as we head towards increasingly windswept and rugged terrain with awesome views of the towering peaks of the Kanchanjunga. The return journey takes an alternative route to the original trail at Suketar in Taplejung for the last camp of the trek. Located on the eastern border of Nepal with India, Mt. Kanchanjunga at an elevation of 8585 m is the third highest peak in the world. Only recently opened to trekkers, the Kanchanjunga region is also home of to an unusually large concentration of Nepal's birds and wildlife. The mountain is held sacred and early expeditions were not allowed to climb as far as the summit.
